Terms of business
These terms apply to every quote and job from PetrieUK. They're written to be read: if anything is unclear, ask before you accept a quote. Last updated 2 November 2026.
Who we are
PetrieUK is the trading name of Steven Petrie, a sole trader based in Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire. Contact: Steven@PetrieUK.co.uk. We are not VAT registered, so the prices we quote are the prices you pay.
Quotes
Every job starts with a written fixed quote setting out what's included. Quotes are valid for 30 days. Work outside the quote is only done once you've agreed a price for it in writing (email is fine).
Paying
- Websites, branding and web apps: 50% when you accept the quote, the rest on completion. Larger web apps are split into stages, each paid as it's delivered.
- Drone shoots: paid in full when the files are delivered.
- SEO and marketing: paid monthly in advance, on a rolling plan you can cancel with 30 days' notice.
- Invoices are due within 14 days.
What you own
Once a job is paid in full, everything we made for you is yours: designs, files, artwork, code and content. Domains, hosting and other accounts are set up in your name from the start. Third-party items such as fonts, stock photos or plugins stay under their own licences, and we'll tell you about any that cost money. We may show the finished work in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.
Your part
You're responsible for the content you give us (text, photos, logos) being yours to use, and for checking and approving work at each stage. If a project stalls for more than 60 days waiting on content or feedback, we may invoice for the work done so far.
Drone work
Every flight follows UK Civil Aviation Authority rules and is covered by our drone insurance. We check airspace, weather and permissions beforehand and may decline or stop a flight for safety. If weather or airspace restrictions stop a shoot, we rebook it at no extra cost.
If you're buying as a private individual
If you're a consumer and you accept a quote by email, phone or online rather than face to face, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of accepting it, without giving a reason. To cancel, email us a clear statement that you want to cancel. If you asked us to start work within those 14 days, you'll pay for the work done up to the point you cancel. This doesn't affect your other legal rights.
If something goes wrong
Tell us and we'll put it right. Bugs in websites and web apps we built are fixed free for 30 days after launch. Our total liability for any job is limited to the price you paid for it, except where the law doesn't allow a limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence. We're not liable for lost profits or business.
Law
These terms are governed by Scots law, and any dispute will be dealt with by the Scottish courts. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
